Well over half of the money raised so far by a political action committee promoting a water funding initiative in Texas came from Associated General Contracts of Texas, Dow Chemical Co. and Energy Future Holdings/Luminant, according to a report filed this week with the Texas Ethics Commission.
Water Texas PAC raised $952,202, including $725,000 from the AGC of Texas, Dow and EFH/Luminant, according to the report.
Most of that money was still in the bank when the report was compiled. The biggest single expenditure so far was $51,810 for a telephone survey. The PAC, started by House Speaker Joe Straus and others who are promoting next month’s constitutional amendment on water funding, reported total expenditures of $91,284. The report covers the period starting July 31 and ending Sept. 26.
