Where $507 Million in Texas Enterprise Fund Awards Went

The Texas Enterprise Fund, an economic development program long touted by Gov. Rick Perry as key to the state's success, has become the target of harsh criticism since the release of a report by the Texas State Auditor describing the program as weak on oversight. The questions raised in the report have also made the fund an issue in the race for governor between Republican Greg Abbott and Democrat Wendy Davis.

The sortable table below is based on information in the state audit on every award the Governor’s Office issued from the Texas Enterprise Fund between the fund’s inception on Sept. 1, 2003 and August 31, 2013. The table includes information on awards related to 115 projects that were awarded a combined $506.8 million in TEF money. The table does not include $14.8 million in so-called clawback penalties that some of the companies were charged for not meeting the job requirements in the award agreements.

In partnership with the Tribune, TexasBusinessIncentives.com has posted all of the original TEF award contracts between the Governor's Office and more than 100 private firms. You can view them here.
