Since Texas replaced the Medicaid Women's Health Program with the Texas Women's Health Program — an effort to exclude providers affiliated with abortion clinics and, in particular, Planned Parenthood — Democratic legislators and family planning advocates have questioned whether the remaining providers enrolled in the program have the capacity to absorb the 40,800 patients that Planned Parenthood saw last year.
In response, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission conducted a survey of women's health providers near those Planned Parenthood clinics to find out whether Texas WHP patients would have trouble accessing services. The agency found two areas — San Angelo and Corsicana — that likely do not have enough providers to treat patients without Planned Parenthood.
This interactive map shows the locations of Planned Parenthood clinics, indicated by 
that were excluded from the state's program, but participated in the former Medicaid WHP. The non-Planned Parenthood providers that responded to the state's survey are represented by the blue teardrops, and in locations with multiple providers, the teardrops are aggregated into yellow circles. Click on the yellow circles to zoom in on groups of providers, and click on the blue teardrops to get detailed information on a specific provider, including the number of Texas WHP patients the provider said it could see in 2013. A 30-mile radius is drawn around each Planned Parenthood clinic to show the area in which providers were contacted for HHSC's survey.

well you cant be a greedy republican and care about women. you cant deny that fracking poisons water and causes earthquakes if you believe in evolution. you cant destroy the education system if you believe in separation of church and state and about what happens to your state. you cant be a republican who represents texans in a gerrymandered district and feel obligated to represent us. they hide behind a god whom they have created in their own image. one who rewards greed and lying, hate and destruction of our very earth.

Carolyn Jones of the Tx Observer was interviewed this a.m. on Terry Gross' "Fresh Air" (NPR) and statistics indicate there'll be 24,000 unwanted pregnancies costing Texas an estimated $270 million because of the GOP dictatorship regarding women's rights to contraception/birth control. Texas: the Stupid State!

notice how many clinics are in districts COMPLETELY disenfranchised by GOP gerrymandering...collectively it's ethnic cleansing- they're denying health care AND fair representation to downtown San Antonio and Austin...reminds me of medievel siege tactics...no one in those areas should accept any "free blankets" from the Texas GOP

One might think ethnic cleansing, but it's not. Our leaders are Hobbsian at best, seeking for each poor woman's life to be as nasty, short and brutish as possible. Additionally, literal tons more babies will be born to women who used to receive care under the TWHP. If they want to ethnically cleanse, this policy will have the opposite effect.
